Sanseverino
Born in 1961, Stéphane Sanseverino is a French musician and singer of jazz manouche. He began early, strumming his guitar with friends and imitating his favourite artists. With his parents, Sanseverino travelled widely around the world. After a rather turbulent school period he took theatre classes and founded a circus troupe that gave numerous performances across France. He kept plucking the strings, joined several groups and ultimately devoted himself to a solo career in the early 2000s. His first album, Le tango des gens, was released in 2001 and enjoyed strong public success, selling thousands of copies. Sanseverino continued to perform on stage (his first love) and to give colourful concerts where he dressed up, cross‑dressed or played the fool. In 2006–2007 he joined Vanessa Paradis, Louis Chédid and his son -M- in the musical Le soldat rose. With the albums Les sénégalaises (2004) and Exactement (2006), Sanseverino established himself as a manouche phenomenon with fast rhythms and biting lyrics. The swing continued in 2013 with the release of his fifth album, Honky Tonk. Bolstered by all his musical experiences, Sanseverino continues his career and performs in France at concerts and festivals. The author of “Swing du nul” has not said his last word!
