Bad Company

Formed in London in 1973, Bad Company brought together Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both formerly of Free, guitarist Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople, and bassist Boz Burrell, an ex-member of King Crimson. Part of the British hard rock and blues-rock scene of the 1970s and associated with Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song label, Bad Company made their mark with a self-titled debut in 1974, followed by Straight Shooter (1975) and Run with the Pack (1976). These records established a straightforward sound blending rock riffs, blues roots and slower ballads. The band then released Burnin’ Sky (1977), Desolation Angels (1979) and Rough Diamonds (1982) before Paul Rodgers departed and the group reorganized around singer Brian Howe. Albums such as Fame and Fortune (1986), Dangerous Age (1988) and Holy Water (1990) signaled a move toward more radio-friendly rock. Since then Bad Company has appeared intermittently on stage, often focusing on its 1970s repertoire and touring in Europe and North America.
