Romain Humeau
Born in Aix-en-Provence in 1971, Romain Humeau has built since the mid-1990s a career straddling French rock, pop-rock and chanson, with a strong emphasis on arrangements and orchestral textures. Initially active with Oobik & The Pucks, he later founded Eiffel with Estelle Humeau and Nicolas Courret; the band established itself on the French rock scene with nervous, melodic writing often driven by electric guitars, while leaving room for more acoustic forms. Parallel to the band, Romain Humeau developed a solo discography including L’Éternité de l’instant (2005), Vendredi ou les Limbes du Pacifique (2015) — conceived around a text by Michel Tournier for France Culture — Mousquetaire #1 (2016), Mousquetaire #2 (2018) and Echos (2020). His career also includes work as an arranger, producer and composer for other artists, notably on Noir Désir’s Des visages des figures (2001) and with Bernard Lavilliers on Baron Samedi (2013) and Acoustique (2014). A multi-instrumentalist, Romain Humeau applies the same compositional sensibility across his solo projects, Eiffel and his collaborations.
