Napoleon Da Legend

A Franco-Comorian rapper and songwriter based in Brooklyn, Napoleon Da Legend has built a career at the crossroads of the American and European independent scenes. Born in Paris to parents from the Comoros and raised in the Washington D.C. area, he is rooted in an East Coast–influenced hip-hop culture—classic boom bap, soul and jazz sampling, and songwriting attentive to social issues. Active since the late 2000s, he gradually carved out a place for himself through a series of self-produced projects, mixing concept albums, collaborations and shorter releases, and maintaining a steady output that anchors him in the network of underground MCs and producers. Alternating between English and French, Napoleon Da Legend develops a style focused on storytelling, introspection and pop or cinematic references, with a direct, often technical but accessible flow that adapts equally well to rougher productions and slower, more melodic moods. His records feature work with various beatmakers, notably Giallo Point and Amerigo Gazaway, and he circulates through collectives, guest appearances and local scenes, whether in New York or on dates in francophone Europe. Through this abundant discography, Napoleon Da Legend asserts an identity as an independent MC centered on lyrics and classic rap aesthetics while incorporating contemporary influences.
