My Vitriol

Formed in London in the late 1990s around Som Wardner and Ravi Kesavaram, My Vitriol sits at a crossroads between alternative rock, shoegaze, noise rock and touches of alternative metal, with dense guitars, sharper melodies and a constant tension between saturation and clear vocal lines. The band initially forms as a duo before expanding, notably with Seth Taylor on guitar, and makes its mark at the turn of the 2000s in the wave associated with nu gaze. After several singles, My Vitriol released Finelines in 2001, an album that fixed much of its sonic identity and accompanied a period of touring in the United Kingdom, Europe and Japan. A hiatus was announced in 2002, then the group resumed activity from 2005 with new shows and several bass-player changes over the years. My Vitriol subsequently released the live Cast in Amber in 2006, the EPs A Pyrrhic Victory and War of the Worlds in 2007, then The Secret Sessions in 2016, initially in a limited setting before broader distribution in 2017. Since then, My Vitriol has continued to appear on stage from time to time, preserving this atmospheric, heavy and melodic rock aesthetic that links the British shoegaze heritage to a more abrasive songwriting approach.
