Pauline Croze

Born in Noisy-le-Sec in Seine-Saint-Denis, Pauline Croze established herself in the mid-2000s in the French chanson landscape with intimate writing and a style that blends pop, folk and soul inflections, carried by a supple voice and a pronounced taste for hushed rhythms. Discovered in the early 2000s, she notably appeared at the Transmusicales in Rennes in 2003 and in the CQFD program of Les Inrockuptibles in 2004, before touring as a supporting act on French stages. Pauline Croze released her first self-titled album in 2005, followed by Un bruit qui court in 2007 and Le Prix de l’Eden in 2012, in a continuity where the chanson opens to more varied arrangements without breaking with a form of melodic sobriety. In 2016, Pauline Croze explores the Brazilian repertoire with Bossa Nova, a French-language cover album that extends her interest in music with soft pulses and clear harmonies. After founding her label Vilmamusica in 2017, she released Ne rien faire in 2018, then Après les heures grises in 2021, where her writing sits in a more contemporary production, threaded with subtle urban and electronic touches. Over the course of her career, Pauline Croze has also collaborated with artists such as Arthur H, Ben Mazué or Julie Depardieu, while keeping a focus on her songs and the live scene.
