Optimo (Espacio)

In Glasgow, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes developed Optimo (Espacio) in the late 1990s around a Sunday night that became a fixture of the Sub Club between 1997 and 2010. The Scottish duo belong to an independent dance culture in which house and techno converse with post‑punk, new wave, EBM, disco, dub and electro, with a pronounced taste for crossings between club music and more oblique repertoires. Optimo (Espacio) was initially built through DJing, in sets and radio shows that favour tempo contrasts, unexpected juxtapositions and rare tracks rather than a fixed-genre framework. Alongside their club activity, Optimo (Espacio) runs the label Optimo Music and also issues productions, compilations and remixes. Present on club and festival stages far beyond Scotland, Optimo (Espacio) has retained this open approach, where the history of alternative musics meets the most direct forms of dance music.
