Michael Prins

Born in Haarlem in the Netherlands, Michael Prins belongs to the line of acoustic singer‑songwriters, positioned between pop, folk and intimate English‑language songwriting. After several years performing in small venues and café concerts, he came to prominence in 2013 by winning the television show De beste singer‑songwriter van Nederland, which firmly established him on the Dutch scene and opened doors to the country’s club and festival circuits. His debut album, 'Rivertown Fairytales' (2013), laid the foundation for his writing centred on voice, piano or guitar, with narrative lyrics marked by human relationships and inner doubt. Prins continued this approach with 'A Dreamer’s Dream Is Forever To Be Yours' (2015), where the arrangements remained restrained while gaining scope, and with 'It’s Murder, Guilty On Killing Sweet Emotion' (2017), which explores darker atmospheres without leaving the realm of melodic song.
