Nâdiya

Nâdiya, born Nadia Zighem in Tours to a family of Algerian origin, emerged in the early 2000s in a French-language pop and R&B register, with straightforward lyrics and productions blending radio formats, carefully crafted choruses and urban accents. After an initial single in 1997, her career took shape with “J’ai confiance en toi” and the album Changer les choses in 2001. She broadened her audience with 16/9 in 2004, driven by “Parle-moi”, “Et c’est parti...” featuring Smartzee, and “Si loin de vous”, three tracks that established an aesthetic between contemporary chanson, R&B and upbeat pop. The 2006 album Nâdiya marked a shift toward tighter, sometimes rock-tinged arrangements with songs like “Tous ces mots”, “Roc” and “Amies-ennemies”. Her path continued with La Source in 2007 and Électron Libre in 2008, where she opened her sound more to international pop, notably with the duet “Tired of Being Sorry (Laisse le destin l’emporter)” with Enrique Iglesias and “No Future in the Past” with Kelly Rowland. After a quieter period, Nâdiya returned on her own label N4Z Records with “Unity” in 2017 and the album Odyssée in 2019.
