Marc Acardipane

Born in Frankfurt in 1969 as Marc Trauner, Marc Acardipane emerged in the late 1980s as a leading figure in German hardcore techno. Active since 1985, he co-founded the label Planet Core Productions with Thorsten Lambart in 1989, a central platform for the early years of European hardcore. Under numerous aliases — including Mescalinum United, The Mover, Pilldriver, Rave Creator and Marshall Masters — he developed a fast, abrasive and physical sound drawing on techno, industrial, EBM and new beat; his productions as The Mover often have a darker, more mental edge. Mescalinum United’s We Have Arrived, produced in 1989 and released in 1990, remains a cornerstone of that aesthetic. Between 1989 and 1996 PCP’s catalogue became particularly dense and supported the spread of hardcore, gabber and related forms in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Acardipane later released tracks such as Six Million Ways to Die, Slaves to the Rave and I Like It Loud, while continuing to pursue more techno-oriented work under other names. His career also includes collaborations with Scooter in 2003 on Maria (I Like It Loud) and with The Prophet on the EP Stereo Killa in 2005. Long-form releases include Undetected Act from the Gloom Chamber as The Mover (2018) and The Most Famous Unknown (2020).
