Magenta

Born in Wales in the late 1990s around composer and keyboardist Rob Reed, Magenta developed a melodic progressive rock that combines long-form structures, narrative songwriting, symphonic keyboards, chiming guitar and Christina Booth’s expressive vocals. The band's core has settled around Reed, Booth and guitarist Chris Fry, while the rhythm section has changed over the course of tours and recordings. From Revolutions (2001) through Seven (2004) and Home (2006), Magenta positioned itself in a British progressive vein influenced by the 1970s but treated with contemporary production and a strong emphasis on vocal lines. Subsequent releases show shifts in tone: the darker atmosphere of Metamorphosis (2008), the more direct approach of Chameleon (2011) and The Twenty Seven Club (2013), constructed around figures who died at 27. Magenta also released We Are Legend (2017), Masters of Illusion (2020) and The White Witch - A Symphonic Trilogy (2022), an orchestral reworking of their repertoire. Present on the European progressive scene since 1999, Magenta has played festivals such as Summer’s End, Baja Prog and Night of the Prog, while members have pursued several parallel projects linked to the worlds of Rob Reed and Christina Booth.
