Mihai Popoviciu

Romanian producer and DJ associated with Sibiu, Mihai Popoviciu has worked since the mid-2000s in a register between minimal house, tech house and deep house. His work relies on supple grooves, rounded basses, precise percussion and discreet melodic lines that give his tracks a steady progression rather than sudden ruptures. Mihai Popoviciu’s trajectory was first built through a steady stream of EPs and remixes released on European house and techno labels, and later by a lasting presence on the club circuit. His album The Unexpected Truth was released in 2009. Over subsequent releases he has moved his writing toward a warmer, deeper aesthetic while retaining the formal sobriety characteristic of micro-house and tech house. His DJ sets extend this line, with selections centered on groove, contained tension and long formats, in clubs and on international electronic stages.
