Little River Band

Formed in Melbourne in 1975, Little River Band belongs to a melodic rock vein that crosses soft rock, pop rock and AOR, with a central focus on vocal harmonies and arrangements inherited as much from country rock as from the Californian sound of the late 1970s. Originally, the group included Glenn Shorrock, Beeb Birtles, Grah Graham Goble and Derek Pellicci, all of whom had passed through important outfits on the Australian scene, before finding its classic balance with David Briggs and George McArdle. Little River Band developed first in Australia and then quickly established itself on the British and American stages thanks to strong touring and a highly structured songwriting, carried by tracks such as \"It’s a Long Way There\", \"Help Is on Its Way\", \"Reminiscing\", \"Lady\", \"Lonesome Loser\" or \"Cool Change\". Its early discography includes notably Little River Band (1975), After Hours (1976), Diamantina Cocktail (1977), Sleeper Catcher (1978), First Under the Wire (1979) and Time Exposure (1981), produced by George Martin. Personnel changes followed, with the arrival of John Farnham on vocals in the 1980s, then a long succession of reconfigurations. Since the 1990s, Little River Band has mainly continued touring with an entirely renewed lineup, in a context marked by several disputes over the use of the band's name.
