Lita Ford
Hard rock and heavy metal guitarist and singer Lita Ford was born in 1958 in London and grew up in Los Angeles, where she immersed herself early in the California rock scene. In 1975 she joined the all-female band The Runaways, active until the late 1970s, becoming the lead guitarist and blending aggressive riffs with glam‑inflected sounds. In the early 1980s, Ford launched a solo career oriented toward heavy metal with the albums "Out for Blood" (1983) and "Dancin’ on the Edge" (1984), establishing a style that combined powerful guitars, melodic choruses, and a glam metal aesthetic. The shift toward more accessible hard rock solidified with "Lita" (1988), highlighted by a duet ballad with Ozzy Osbourne, followed by "Stiletto" (1990), "Dangerous Curves" (1991), and "Black" (1995), which reinforced her grounding in melodic metal and power ballads. After a long recording hiatus, Ford returned to the spotlight in the 2000s with "Wicked Wonderland" (2009), "Living Like a Runaway" (2012), and "Time Capsule" (2016), continuing a guitar‑centered approach that moves between classic hard rock, ’80s influences, and more personal songwriting. Still an active touring artist, Lita Ford regularly performs on international rock and metal stages, where her repertoire reflects both the legacy of the Runaways and her path as a solo artist.
