Lenny Dee
Born in 1968 as Leonard Didesiderio, Lenny Dee grew up in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and began DJing at 17 at his neighborhood’s Roll‑A‑Palace. After his first record in 1985, he initially joined New York’s 1980s house scene but soon shifted his work toward harder, faster forms spanning techno, hardcore techno and gabber. This evolution was sharpened through exposure to British raves and later the Belgian, Dutch and German scenes, where he developed a direct, abrasive rave aesthetic marked by taut rhythms. Early in his career he collaborated with Frankie Bones as Looney Tunes at Tommy Musto’s instigation and also worked as a production assistant for Arthur Baker. In 1991 he founded Industrial Strength Records in New York, a label devoted to the more radical edges of techno and hardcore; early releases included tracks by Marc Acardipane under the names Mescalinum United and The Mover. Alongside his productions, Lenny Dee has maintained an international DJ career, appearing at events such as Love Parade and Thunderdome.
