Laïoung

Born in Brussels in 1992 as Giuseppe Bockarie Consoli, Laïoung grew up between Belgium, Italy, France and the United Kingdom, with a childhood stay in Ostuni in Puglia. This mobile upbringing informs a writing style that spans multiple languages and cultural references. Laïoung first emerged with English-language rap on his debut album Laïoung in Yo Eardrum (2011), before asserting an identity more clearly tied to Italian trap—blending rap flows, melodic hooks and influences from the North American scene. In 2014 he founded the collective The RRR Mob with Momoney, Isi Noice and Hichy Bangz, while continuing his solo career with Ave Cesare: veni, vidi, vici (2016), a project that positioned him within Italian rap in the latter half of the 2010s. His trajectory also includes collaborations with Izi and Tedua, Guè, Fabri Fibra and Biagio Antonacci, in a register that alternates between hard-hitting tracks, more sung songs and the use of Italian, English or French. After signing with Polydor, Laïoung released Rinascimento (2019), Vox Populi (2021) and Nomade (2023), extending a trap and rap aesthetic marked by movement, self-production and a personal approach to blending introspection with urban tension.
