Lagum
Founded in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Lagum has developed since the mid-2010s a blend of pop rock, reggae and indie tinged with R&B, driven by melodic guitars and straightforward Portuguese vocals. The group first made a name for itself locally, playing student stages and small venues across Minas Gerais, before gradually expanding its audience through digital platforms. The release of the album “Coisas da Geração” in 2016 marked an initial landmark, establishing a universe focused on everyday life, relationships and the dilemmas of Brazil’s urban youth. In 2019 they followed with “Mundo Novo,” which diversified their sound between more upbeat tracks and introspective compositions, and in 2021 “Memórias (de onde eu nunca fui)” confirmed this turn toward melancholic yet accessible alternative pop. The death of drummer Breno Braga, known as Tio Wilson, in 2020 was a pivotal moment in the band’s history, but they continued both live and studio work. Today Lagum occupies a distinct place in the new generation of Brazilian pop, navigating radio formats, national tours and a steady online presence while maintaining songwriting centered on intimate, immediately recognizable themes.
