Manticora

Formed in Denmark in 1996 around brothers Lars F. Larsen and Kristian H. Larsen, Manticora operates in melodic and fast power metal, enriched by progressive accents and writing often conceived with a long-term view. Initially stemming from the Fear Itself group, the project's core stabilizes with drummer Mads Volf, then bassist Kasper Gram and guitarist Martin Arendal, in a quintet formation that marks its path for good. After the EP Dead End Solution in 1997, Manticora releases Roots of Eternity in 1999, then Darkness with Tales to Tell in 2001 and Hyperion in 2002, a concept album that confirms its interest in developed narratives and more ambitious structures. This narrative dimension continues with 8 Deadly Sins in 2004, then the diptych The Black Circus Part 1 - Letters in 2006 and The Black Circus Part 2 - Disclosure in 2007. In the following years, Manticora pursues this line with Safe in 2010, To Live to Kill to Live in 2018 and the double album Mycelium in 2022 and Mycelium II in 2024. On stage, the band has toured the European metal circuit, occupying a distinct place between power metal, technical heavy metal and darker atmospheres, not limiting itself to the heroic register often associated with the genre.
