Kuniyuki Takahashi
From Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido, Kuniyuki Takahashi develops a body of work situated between deep house, future jazz, techno and experimental music, with a marked taste for organic textures, supple rhythms and slow constructions. A DJ, producer and sound engineer, Kuniyuki Takahashi has released music under several names depending on context — notably Forth for more dub techno and acid house directions, Frr Hive for downtempo and drum’n’bass forms, and Koss for a more abstract techno side. His discography has been built between Japanese labels and international electronic scenes, particularly around Mule Musiq and Mule Electronic. Under his main name he notably released We Are Together and Journey in 2006, All These Things in 2007, Walking In The Naked City in 2010 and Feather World in 2013 — records where house pulse, improvisation, atmospheric keyboards and a jazz heritage coexist. In parallel, his work under the alias Koss appears as early as Ring (2001) and continues through Silence (2015). Kuniyuki Takahashi has also collaborated with Henrik Schwarz and worked with figures such as Anne Clark, pursuing an approach where dance remains bound to attentive listening.
