Kojey Radical
Born in London in 1993 as Kwadwo Adu Genfi Amponsah, Kojey Radical grew up between Hoxton and Shoreditch in a family of Ghanaian origin — a background that informs much of his writing. Initially active in spoken word and the visual arts, from the mid‑2010s he developed music at the crossroads of British hip‑hop, alternative rap, grime and recited poetry, with a marked focus on storytelling, issues of identity, heritage and social life. After his first project, Dear Daisy: Opium (2014), he honed his approach with the EPs 23Winters (2016), In Gods Body (2017) and Cashmere Tears (2019), which established a dense, introspective lyrical style carried by often supple and melodic productions. Kojey Radical has also pursued numerous collaborations — including with Jay Prince, Mahalia, MJ Cole, Mereba, Ghetts and Obongjayar — while performing across stages in the UK, Europe and internationally. His debut album, Reason to Smile (2022), marked a broader step in his discography, followed by Don't Look Down in 2025. Between rap, spoken word and a pronounced visual approach, Kojey Radical is part of a London scene open to hybrid forms.
