Kasia Kowalska

Born in Sulejówek, Poland, Katarzyna "Kasia" Kowalska emerged in the early 1990s on the Polish music scene with a personal songwriting voice and a vocal delivery that balances rock intensity with pop inflections. After early years in several bands, notably Human, Fatum and Talking Pictures, Kasia Kowalska launched her solo career with Gemini in 1994 and followed with the live album Koncert inaczej in 1995. Her repertoire has since ranged between pop rock, alternative rock and more melodic songs, with detours into funk, jazz and, at times, electronic textures, as on Czekając na... (1996), Pełna obaw (1998), 5 (2000) and Antidotum (2002). In the same decade she represented Poland at Eurovision 1996 with "Chcę znać swój grzech...", appeared in the film Nocne graffiti and took part in various projects related to Polish cinema and the pop stage. Her discography continued with Samotna w wielkim mieście (2004), Antepenultimate (2008), Ciechowski. Moja krew (2010), a tribute to Grzegorz Ciechowski, followed by AYA (2018) and MTV Unplugged (2019). A fixture on major Polish stages and festivals, Kasia Kowalska has alternated since the start of her career between electric lineups, acoustic sets and reinterpretations of her own catalogue.
