Lil Jon
Lil Jon, born in Atlanta in 1971, is a central figure in American hip-hop and one of the key architects behind the rise of the crunk scene in the early 2000s. Initially a DJ and later a producer, he made his name by founding Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, with whom he released several landmark projects, including Put Yo Hood Up (2001) and Kings of Crunk (2002), which firmly established his signature sound. With unbridled energy and an instantly recognizable vocal style, Lil Jon quickly became a mainstay, collaborating with leading artists and contributing to some of the most widely played tracks of his era. His work on Usher’s 2004 hit Yeah!, which became a massive international success, helped cement his reputation well beyond hip-hop. Alongside his production career, Lil Jon has built a solid path as a performer and entertainer, exploring collaborations over the years in electronic music, pop, and reggaeton, always intent on leaving his mark. From his pioneering role in popularizing crunk to his status as a popular icon, he remains an influential figure in contemporary American culture, active on stage and in the studio, and always identifiable by his hard-hitting style.
