John Fogerty
Born in Berkeley, California, in 1945, John Fogerty first made his mark as part of the band he formed with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook and his brother Tom, who moved from the Blue Velvets to the Golliwogs before the group became Creedence Clearwater Revival in the late 1960s. Between 1968 and 1972 Fogerty wrote and sang most of the material, in a style blending rock, roots rock, country and blues with the gritty sound often associated with swamp rock—short songs, clean guitars and a strong rhythm-and-blues imprint. After Creedence Clearwater Revival split up, Fogerty pursued a solo career with The Blue Ridge Rangers in 1973 and the album John Fogerty in 1975, before returning more prominently in the mid-1980s with Centerfield (1985). His discography continued with Blue Moon Swamp (1997), Deja Vu All Over Again (2004), Revival (2007), The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again (2009) and Wrote a Song for Everyone (2013). On stage Fogerty remains committed to a direct rock format, where his solo repertoire regularly intermingles with that of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
