John Askew
Born in England in 1975, John Askew has developed his career as a DJ and trance producer since the mid-1990s. Initially influenced by rock during his adolescence, he turned to electronic music after attending a rave in the early 1990s and subsequently pursued an energetic trance style that ranges from uplifting trance to darker tones depending on the project. Askew launched the Discover label, which has been central to his trajectory, while also releasing on imprints such as Armada, Future Sound of Egypt and Subculture. His album Vellum was released in 2001. Over the course of his career he has produced numerous remixes and secured a lasting presence in the British club scene with appearances at London venues like The Gallery, Cream and Ministry of Sound, before performing internationally. His mixes have also been broadcast on the BBC and on Kiss 100, reflecting a continuous path between radio, specialist labels and the trance scene.
