Jameszoo

Born in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, Mitchel van Dinther has, under the name Jameszoo, built a universe at the crossroads of experimental jazz, electronics and beat music, characterized by oblique compositions, fractured rhythms and a pronounced taste for hybrid forms. Initially active as a DJ in his hometown, Jameszoo was formed within a local scene that circulated productions by Madlib as well as J Dilla, before releasing the first landmarks of his discography with the single Leaf People / Krinshnan Feathers in 2011, followed by the EPs Guanyin Psittacines (2012), Faaveelaa (2012) and Jheronimus (2013). His participation in the Red Bull Music Academy in New York in 2013 broadened his network and brought him into contact with Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Hannibal and The Gaslamp Killer, in an environment close to the most adventurous electronic and jazz scenes. Later signed to Brainfeeder, Jameszoo released the album Fool in 2016, a record where his beats give more space to writing, arrangements and a deliberately off‑kilter form of “computer jazz”, followed the next year by the EP Flake.
