Jakuzi

Born in Istanbul in 2015, Jakuzi initially formed around Kutay Soyocak and Taner Yücel, emerging from the local underground scene with a desire to move away from their earlier punk projects. The Turkish band develops Turkish-language music that blends synthpop, new wave and dark wave, characterized by a cool, melodic writing style, rhythms drawn from post-punk and disco, and references to Turkish pop as well as krautrock. Jakuzi drew attention with Fantezi Müzik, released in 2016 on Domuz Records and reissued in 2017 by City Slang, which helped them gain exposure beyond Turkey, notably on stages in Germany and several Central European countries. Subsequent releases confirmed a broader evolution—still poised between dark romanticism, electronic minimalism and pop formats—with Hata Payı in 2019, the EP Açık Bir Yara in 2021, and Merasim the same year. Jakuzi continued this trajectory with Sür Beni in 2023 and Madalyon 1 in 2024. Over the years the band expanded from its original duo to a larger lineup while retaining an identity that sits between new wave melancholy, nocturnal tension and Turkish alternative song.
