Jaël
Born in Bern in 1979, Jaël Malli, who performs as Jaël, first established herself on the Swiss scene in the late 1990s as the singer, songwriter and co-producer of the band Lunik, which she was part of from 1998 to 2013. Her trajectory places her in English-language alternative pop where electronics, trip-hop, melodic rock and more intimate songwriting intersect — an aesthetic she later explored in the duo MiNa, formed with Luk Zimmermann in 2007. In parallel, Jaël took part in several collaborations, notably with Delerium on “After All” (2003), “Lost and Found” (2006), “Light Your Light” (2012) and “Keep On Dreaming” (2016), and also with Schiller and DJ Tatana, in contexts ranging from electronic pop to dance and ambient. After the end of Lunik and MiNa, Jaël launched a solo career with Shuffle the Cards in 2015, followed by Nothing to Hide (2019), Sinfonia (2021), Sensibeli (2021), Midlife (2023) and Ensemble (2024). Her solo work alternates between pop formats, acoustic versions and orchestral reinterpretations, with her voice at the centre and songwriting oriented toward nuance rather than effect. In 2025 Jaël also reunited with Lunik when the band reformed.
