Kohndo
Active on the French rap scene since the mid‑1990s, Kohndo first made his mark within the Parisian collective La Cliqua under the name Doc Odnok, at a time when a first generation of francophone hip‑hop was taking shape. With La Cliqua he helped foster an author‑driven rap attentive to lyrics and rhyme, before turning to a solo career in the early 2000s. Kohndo’s music falls within a hip‑hop aesthetic close to boom bap, informed by soul and jazz influences, favoring warm atmospheres and moderate tempos. His writing, often introspective, blends everyday narratives, social observation and references to hip‑hop culture, sometimes approaching a spoken‑word register. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s he released studio projects and selective collaborations while performing regularly onstage in France. This trajectory has allowed Kohndo to maintain a direct link to La Cliqua’s legacy and to sustain an approach to rap that emphasizes voice, flow and storytelling.
