J:Kenzo

Active since the mid-2000s in the United Kingdom, J:Kenzo develops a universe centered on British bass music, between deep dubstep, drum and bass, and minimalist textures with tribal accents. A producer and DJ based in London, J:Kenzo first makes his mark on the dubstep scene with a sober, taut, and highly rhythmic writing, before gradually broadening his spectrum toward drum and bass without breaking with this dry and immersive aesthetic. His discography spans several important labels within the bass ecosystem, including Tempa, Metalheadz, Exit Records, and 31 Recordings, alongside his own label Artikal Music, which durably accompanies his work. J:Kenzo released the album J:Kenzo in 2012 on Tempa, followed by Taygeta Code in 2019 on Artikal Music, two milestones that well summarize the evolution of his approach, from stripped-back dubstep to a more cross-cutting vision of bass music. Present on club and festival stages across Europe and internationally, J:Kenzo also hosted a residency on Rinse FM for several years, continuing a path closely tied to the circulations between sound system, radio, and the dancefloor.
