Annie Mac
Born in Dublin, Annie Macmanus, known professionally as Annie Mac, operates at the intersection of DJing, radio and music curation, with strong roots in British and Irish electronic music. After starting out behind the decks in Ireland, Annie Mac joined BBC Radio 1 as a producer and launched her first show in 2004. She went on to become one of the station’s recognizable voices through programmes such as Switch, Dance Party and Future Sounds, where she positioned house, electro, bass music, hip‑hop, indie and dance‑pop within a single editorial thread. In clubs, Annie Mac champions a selection largely focused on house, UK bass and techno, with sets crafted for the dancefloor rather than for showing off. Her activity also extended to the compilation series Annie Mac Presents (2009–2012) and the Annie Mac Presents brand, developed into club nights and events. Since 2015 she has also been behind the AMP Lost & Found festival in Malta. After leaving Radio 1 in 2021 following seventeen years on air, she continues to divide her work between DJ sets, editorial projects and speaking out on club culture.
