Into It. Over It.

Led by singer and guitarist Evan Thomas Weiss, Into It. Over It. emerged in the late 2000s with an intimate approach to songwriting rooted in the American emo and indie rock scenes. After growing up in New Jersey, Weiss settled in Chicago and initially developed Into It. Over It. as a solo venture, notably through a series of weekly songs collected on the 2009 album '52 Weeks,' which embedded him in the DIY network and the small venues of the East Coast and the Midwest. The release of 'Proper' in 2011 marked a clearer shift toward a full-band format, with Into It. Over It. embracing a sound that blends melodic guitars, intricate rhythms, and lyrics grounded in everyday life. With 'Intersections' (2013) and 'Standards' (2016), the project solidified an aesthetic at the crossroads of emo, indie rock, and a certain pop-punk heritage, supported by extensive touring and ties to the American so-called 'emo revival' scene. Alongside Into It. Over It., Evan Weiss has remained active in other outfits such as Pet Symmetry and Their / They’re / There, fostering exchange across different independent circles. In 2020, 'Figure' extended this trajectory with more detailed compositions, reaffirming Into It. Over It. as a project centered on songwriting, band dynamics, and a lasting foothold in North America’s alternative circuits.
