Interlope

Trained in Paris in the late 1990s, Interlope brings together Rimshot and Dragongaz, two musicians from the French alternative and electronic scenes who met in 1997 at the Hôpital Éphémère. At that time, Rimshot played as a drummer and sampler within LT-NO, while Dragongaz participated in the Psaïzone and Sounds Like Pistols projects. From the outset, Interlope developed a duo format centered on the crossing of drums, electronic processing and live culture, in an aesthetic situated between breakbeat, electro, dub and experimental rock. The project sits within a French scene marked by the hybridization between machines and organic playing, with particular attention paid to rhythm, textures and on-stage energy. Over the years, Interlope released several records, including Sexploration in 2002, followed by Rockit Scientist in 2008, which extend this approach blending heavy pulsation, dub basses, electronic cuts and post-industrial tension. The duo also circulated on stages tied to indie, electronic and live forms where the boundary between concert and performance remains deliberately porous. Interlope thus occupies a singular place in the landscape of French live electronic music, between sound-system culture, rock heritage and rhythmic experimentation.
