Anne Ducros
Born in Longfossé in the Pas-de-Calais in 1959, Anne Ducros first trained at the conservatory in Boulogne-sur-Mer and initially explored the baroque repertoire before turning to jazz in the mid-1980s. Her trajectory was built first on stage and in clubs, then in the studio with a debut album, Don’t You Take a Chance, in 1989. Anne Ducros subsequently developed a body of work centered on vocal jazz, with a pronounced taste for standards, reinterpretations of chanson and pop, and an approach in which precise phrasing remains linked to improvisation. Her profile rose with Purple Songs in 2001, recorded with Gordon Beck and Didier Lockwood, followed by Close Your Eyes in 2003, Piano, Piano... in 2005—where she dialogued with several pianists including Chick Corea, Jacky Terrasson, Enrico Pieranunzi and René Urtreger—and Urban Tribe in 2007. She has also worked as an educator, notably in Paris, while maintaining an international career. Her recent discography includes Brother? Brother! (2017), Something (2020) with Adrien Moignard and Diego Imbert, and Anne Ducros fait son cinéma (2023).
