Angerfist

Active since the early 2000s, Angerfist is the hardcore project of Danny Masseling, a DJ and producer born in 1981 in Almere, Netherlands. Linked to the Dutch gabber and hardcore scene, Angerfist has developed a direct, heavy sound built on highly saturated kicks, dark melodies and atmospheres influenced as much by hip‑hop as by rave culture. He was noticed through a string of maxi singles on the Masters of Hardcore label and gradually got his tracks into hardcore DJs’ sets before releasing the album Pissin’ Razorbladez in 2006, followed by Mutilate (2008) and Retaliate (2011), which cemented Angerfist’s signature between mainstream hardcore and more industrial-leaning tones. The albums The Deadfaced Dimension (2014), Creed of Chaos (2017) and Diabolic Dice (2021) continued this aesthetic, combining fast rhythms, rap-inspired breaks and film samples. Onstage Angerfist often appears masked and regularly collaborates with MC Prozac, creating shows centered on collective energy. Present at major hardcore events such as Masters of Hardcore, Thunderdome, Dominator and Defqon.1, Angerfist occupies a lasting place in the evolution of the Dutch gabber sound and its contemporary offshoots.
