Hannah Peel

Born in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, and trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Hannah Peel has developed since the late 2000s a body of work situated between electronic music, chamber synth-pop, ambient and orchestral writing. Her early releases, including the EP Rebox and the album The Broken Wave (2011), established an aesthetic in which synthesizers, voice and acoustic arrangements coexist with a marked taste for melodic textures and narrative forms. Peel broadened her scope with Awake But Always Dreaming (2016), Mary Casio: Journey to Cassiopeia (2017), conceived with brass band and electronics, and Fir Wave (2021), an album inspired by wooded landscapes. In parallel she maintains an active career as a composer for screen, theatre and dance, with music for Game of Thrones: The Last Watch (2019), The Midwich Cuckoos (2022), Scoop and Insomnia (2024). She also collaborates with The Magnetic North, John Foxx and the Maths, the Paraorchestra on The Unfolding (2022), and has arranged for Paul Weller. Hannah Peel thus works at the intersection of experimental pop, contemporary composition and soundtrack music, with an approach that is both structured and sensory.
