Hacken Lee

Born in Hong Kong in 1967, Hacken Lee (李克勤) rose to prominence on the cantopop scene in the mid‑1980s after a televised singing contest led to his first recording contract. He went on to build a repertoire centered on Cantonese pop ballads, marked by melancholic melodies and arrangements that blend pop with rock inflections and more classical orchestrations, while gradually adding Mandarin songs for audiences in mainland China and Taiwan. In parallel with his singing career, Lee has maintained a steady presence on Hong Kong television—appearing in music programs, variety shows, and drama series—and has also appeared in films, further strengthening his profile in the local entertainment world. A regular in Hong Kong’s major venues and on tours across the Sinophone regions, he has, over the years, presented numerous thematic concerts and collaborative performances, notably with fellow cantopop figures and symphony orchestras, all while consistently releasing new songs.
