Grödash

Born Freddy Biebie, Grödash spent part of his childhood in Congo‑Brazzaville before leaving the country in 1994 amid the civil war, then grew up in the Paris region, notably around the Les Amonts neighbourhood. This background informs his writing, where experiences of exile, street rap codes and social observation intersect. Initially known as Dash and later as Grödash, he began writing with his cousins before making a name in French hip‑hop circles through the collective Ul’Team Atom and the Dégaine ton style battles, a key reference point for rap culture in France in the 2000s. Grödash has developed a style centered on boom bap, with lean productions, pronounced rhythms and a tight, technical, direct flow. His music also includes more melodic, sometimes sung tracks, and inflections inspired by Southern US rap. Grödash thus maintains a balance between writing standards, rhythmic effectiveness and battle heritage, in a trajectory rooted in independent French rap.
