Godsticks

Based in Newport, Wales, Godsticks has developed since the late 2000s a progressive rock with metal edges, marked by taut riffs, shifting structures and often direct vocals that contrast with the precision of the songwriting. Led by singer and guitarist Darran Charles, Godsticks initially took the form of a trio before evolving into a quartet with the arrival of guitarist Gavin Bushell and drummer Tom Price alongside bassist Francis George. After a self‑titled EP in 2009, Godsticks released Spiral Vendetta in 2010 and The Envisage Conundrum in 2013, albums that established an identity combining rhythmic complexity and compact formats. With Emergence in 2015 the band emphasized its progressive metal dimension, a direction continued on Faced with Rage in 2017, their first album on Kscope, and later on Inescapable (2020) and This Is What a Winner Looks Like (2023). On stage, Godsticks has moved between British and European rock and prog networks, appearing alongside The Pineapple Thief, The Aristocrats and Mike Keneally, and at festivals such as Stone Free, HRH Prog and Prog'Sud.
