Glenn Jones

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Glenn Jones belongs to the American soul and R&B tradition, with a voice shaped by gospel—the style in which he began in the late 1970s as a member of the Modulations. Jones moved into R&B in the early 1980s when he appeared on Norman Connors' "Melancholy Fire" in 1980, a collaboration that also led to touring with Connors. After a first EP, Everybody Loves a Winner (1983), he released the album Finesse on RCA in 1984 and Take It from Me in 1986, before continuing on Jive with Glenn Jones in 1987 and All for You in 1990. His repertoire mixes soul ballads, mid-tempo R&B and expressive delivery, within a studio aesthetic firmly rooted in the mature sound of the 1980s and 1990s. He followed with Here I Go Again in 1992 and Here I Am in 1994, maintaining a balance between romantic soul and contemporary production. Songs commonly associated with his career include "Show Me", "We’ve Only Just Begun (The Romance Is Not Over)", "Stay", "Here I Go Again" and "I’ve Been Searchin’ (Nobody Like You)". His later discography includes It’s Time (1998), Feels Good (2002) and Forever: Timeless R&B Classics (2006).
