Issac Delgado

Born in Havana in 1962, Issac Delgado developed his career in Cuban salsa and timba, drawing on his background as a musician trained in the island’s popular orchestras. After beginning in the early 1980s with the Orquesta de Pacho Alonso, the singer joined NG La Banda in the mid‑1980s, a period during which he contributed to the rise of a new urban scene blending son, jazz and Afro‑Cuban rhythms. In 1991 Issac Delgado formed his own band in Havana and recorded a series of albums that defined his vocal signature and arrangements, including Con ganas (1993), La primera noche (1997) and En primera plana (2007). His music revolves around timba and salsa grooves built on prominent brass sections and a constant dialogue between chorus and lead voice, while also incorporating ballads and forays into Latin pop. After spending time in the United States in the mid‑2000s before resuming regular activity in Cuba, Issac Delgado continues to perform on Latin American and international stages, evolving a repertoire focused on dance but also on songwriting.
