Fred Ventura
Born in Milan in 1962 as Federico di Bonaventura, Fred Ventura made his mark in the 1980s at the intersection of Italo-disco, synth-pop and melodic electronic pop shaped by nightclubs and contemporary Italian productions. Affiliated with Time Records, he released a string of singles that became milestones in his career, including The Years (Go By) (1985), Wind of Change (1986) and Heartbeat (1988), before issuing the album East & West in 1989. His writing favors clean synth lines, danceable rhythms and a direct vocal delivery, with an aesthetic that is both romantic and mechanical. After this initial period he sustained his activity over time, notably with the compilations Heartbeat: The Singles Collection 1984-1989 (2000) and Fred Ventura - 1983-2008 Disco Modernism (2008). In 2010 he founded Italoconnection with Paolo Gozzetti, extending the link between Italo heritage and contemporary electronic production, and in 2012 he launched the label Disco Modernism. His recent trajectory also includes collaborations with Andy Romano, Sally Shapiro and Alden Tyrell, as well as appearances on stages dedicated to synthetic music, such as the Flow Festival in 2018.
