Anamanaguchi
Formed between Chappaqua and New York in the mid-2000s, Anamanaguchi brings together Peter Berkman, Ary Warnaar, James DeVito and Luke Silas in a band format that blends guitars, bass and drums with electronic composition inspired by chiptune, bitpop, indie rock and highly synthetic pop. Anamanaguchi first emerged on New York’s 8-bit scene with the Power Supply EP in 2006, then refined that intersection of rock energy, video game melodies and digital textures on Dawn Metropolis in 2009. The quartet later gained wider visibility with the soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game in 2010, before moving toward a more pop-oriented approach on the album Endless Fantasy in 2013. Over the years, Anamanaguchi has shifted toward a more vocal, front-facing electropop sound, as on [USA] in 2019, while maintaining strong ties to gaming culture, indie scenes and online formats. Their trajectory also includes collaborations with Hatsune Miku, Meesh, Hana, 8485 and Joseph Trapanese, as well as side projects such as the music for the game Capsule Silence XXIV and the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim Takes Off in 2023.
