Carsten “Erobique” Meyer

Born in Saerbeck, Germany, Carsten “Erobique” Meyer has developed since the late 1990s a trajectory between disco, funk, electronic pop and house — a dance-oriented approach that remains tied to songcraft and club culture. Active in the Hamburg scene, Meyer also works as a keyboardist with International Pony, appearing on the albums We Love Music (2002), Bass is Boss (2004) and Mit Dir sind wir vier (2006). Under the name Erobique he released Erosound! (1998), Discodebut (2001), Keil Stouncil a Paris (2009), Babyman 2 (2016) and No. 2 (2023). Erobique also appears in other collective contexts, notably Einbahnstrasse and School of Zuversicht, and collaborated with Jacques Palminger on Songs For Joy (2009), reissued in 2019. Alongside his records, Carsten Meyer composes for film and television; his music can be heard in Fraktus, Magical Mystery and the series Der Tatortreiniger. As Erobique, keyboard lines, supple rhythms and pop melodies coexist with a soundtrack-style writing that links stage music, song and instrumental formats.
