Hawkwind

Formed in 1969 in London’s Ladbroke Grove neighborhood around Dave Brock, Hawkwind began in the British underground before developing a sound that blends space rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock and progressive touches, often accompanied by lyrics tied to science fiction and urban life. Hawkwind’s trajectory has been marked by numerous personnel changes, with Brock remaining the central figure; the group included Lemmy before he went on to form Motörhead and featured regular collaborators such as Robert Calvert and the writer Michael Moorcock. After the self-titled Hawkwind in 1970, the band quickly honed its identity with In Search of Space (1971), Doremi Fasol Latido (1972) and Warrior on the Edge of Time (1975), albums that established a formula of repetitive riffs, long cosmic excursions, spoken word and a strong theatrical dimension. Over the decades Hawkwind has alternated between more rock-oriented periods, more electronic phases and parallel incarnations like Hawklords, while maintaining its trance-like and futuristic aesthetic. Still active, Hawkwind continued their discography with The Machine Stops (2016), Somnia (2021), The Future Never Waits (2023) and Stories from Time and Space (2024), confirming the continuity of a career begun in the late 1960s.
