Emma Stevens
Born in Guildford, Surrey, Emma Stevens has developed since the late 2000s a songwriting voice situated between acoustic pop, folk and country, with a marked preference for clear melodies and organic arrangements. Trained at the Academy of Contemporary Music, she began in the acoustic duo Wildstar and worked as a session musician before co-writing the song "Wowowow" for SHINee on the album Lucifer in 2010. Her solo trajectory took shape with the EP Heart on Hand (2012) and the releases Dreaming Trees, Underwater and Sunflower, later collected on the album Enchanted (2013), which established a luminous folk-pop register picked up by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2. She followed with Waves (2014) and To My Roots (2017), an album more clearly oriented toward country-pop and Americana, nourished by writing sessions in Nashville. She then released the EP Atoms (2019), featuring a duet with Kevin Jeremiah, and Light Year (2021), where her songwriting opened toward a broader pop sound. Singles released between 2021 and 2024 pointed to a more direct, rock-leaning sound, confirmed by Bloom (2024). On stage, Emma Stevens has toured the UK, shared bills with artists such as Jenn Bostic and Blair Dunlop, and has also performed in China — a career built on independence, collaborative songwriting and frequent live formats.
