Ghostface Killah

A member of the New York collective Wu-Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah emerged in the early 1990s on the American rap scene with the group’s 1993 album "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)". Born Dennis Coles in 1970 on Staten Island, USA, he quickly stood out for a dense, rapid-fire flow, vivid detail, and a narrative writing style that blends street tales, soul references, and personal digressions. Closely tied to the early solo ventures of Wu-Tang members, he made a lasting impression alongside Raekwon on 1995’s "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…" before launching his own discography with "Ironman" in 1996, sketching a world that fused East Coast rap, mafioso overtones, and soul samples. Throughout the 2000s, Ghostface Killah delivered a string of pivotal albums, including "Supreme Clientele" (2000), "Fishscale" (2006), and "Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City" (2009), which explored a more sung, R&B-leaning side of his rap. He also pursued conceptual projects such as 2013’s "Twelve Reasons to Die" with Adrian Younge, and collaborations with instrumental groups like BadBadNotGood on 2015’s "Sour Soul", before continuing his solo path with "Ghostface Killahs" in 2019—affirming the continuity of an aesthetic centered on storytelling, a soulful texture, and a highly personal take on New York rap.
