7 Weeks
Formed in Limoges in 2006 around Julien Bernard and Jérémy Cantin-Gaucher, 7 Weeks initially operated in a stoner rock register at the crossroads of heavy rock and grunge, with a dense sound, massive riffs and melodic songwriting that later evolved toward more psychedelic, ambient and experimental forms. After a first demo in 2006 and the EP B(l)ack Days in 2007, 7 Weeks released All Channels off in 2009, an album that marked a more organic, rock-oriented turn. The band then developed its live activity across France and Europe within rock and metal circuits, sharing bills at various times with Lofofora, Mass Hysteria and Triggerfinger. In 2011 7 Weeks expanded its format with the film-concert Dead of Night; the compositions from that project gave rise to 7 Weeks Plays Dead of Night, a more atmospheric album distinguished by the arrival of keyboards. That openness continued on Carnivora in 2013 and the EP Bends in 2014. After several lineup changes, 7 Weeks refocused around its founding core for A Farewell to Dawn in 2016, before returning with Sisyphus in 2020, followed by the EP What’s Next? and The Sisyphus Complete Recordings in 2021. With Fade into Blurred Lines in 2023, 7 Weeks tightened its approach further into a trio featuring Julien Bernard, Jérémy Cantin-Gaucher and Gérald Gimenez.
