Dot Dot Curve
American crunkcore project led by singer and rapper Spanky, Dot Dot Curve emerged in the late 2000s at the heart of Myspace culture, where a fan base formed around a blend of hip‑hop, electro and ‘scene’ aesthetics. Initially conceived as a band and later as a more fluid, variable project, Dot Dot Curve alternates between tight line-ups and occasional collaborations while retaining a core focused on Spanky’s songwriting and voice. The sound of Dot Dot Curve is characterized by rhythms close to southern rap and crunk, simple, repetitive synths, melodic choruses with pop‑punk inflections and a prominent use of autotuned vocals; the lyrics range from party themes and references to online life to more introspective passages. Active on record and digitally since the late 2000s, Dot Dot Curve has released several studio projects and mixtapes that have circulated widely on platforms, and performs on alternative stages adjacent to metalcore, electro and independent rap, maintaining over the years an identity strongly tied to internet heritage and the visual codes of the electronic emo scene.
