Gazelle Twin
Under the name Gazelle Twin, Elizabeth Bernholz has been developing since 2009 a project that originated in Brighton, England, at the intersection of electronic music, avant-pop and industrial music. Trained at the University of Sussex, she builds a world where voices—often distorted or multiplied—merge with dark textures, martial rhythms and deliberately unstable pop songwriting. Gazelle Twin released her first album, The Entire City, in 2011 and refined a more abrasive approach with Unflesh in 2014. On Pastoral, released in 2018, she shifted her work toward a more frontal critique of rural England and the political climate around Brexit, without abandoning the theatrical dimension of her performances. Her output also includes Deep England, created in 2021 with the vocal collective NYX, and Black Dog in 2023. Alongside her records, Gazelle Twin composes for moving image— notably The Power (2021) and Then You Run (2023)—and has produced remixes, among others for John Foxx. Now based in Leicestershire, Gazelle Twin continues a practice where composition, performance and the staging of identity intersect.
