Garbage

Formed in Madison, Wisconsin, Garbage brought together producers and musicians Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker with Scottish singer Shirley Manson from 1993, after she was noticed while singing in the band Angelfish. The group made a strong impression with their debut album "Garbage" (1995), driven by a sound that mixed alternative rock, electronic textures, grunge influences and touches of trip-hop, with meticulous studio production and a central focus on Manson’s voice. The follow-up, "Version 2.0" (1998), continued this hybrid approach—abrasive guitars, programmed rhythms and pop choruses—and propelled Garbage onto major stages across Europe and North America. Around the same time they recorded the James Bond theme "The World Is Not Enough" (1999), broadening their visibility beyond the rock circuit. "Beautifulgarbage" (2001) and "Bleed Like Me" (2005) marked a more direct, rock-oriented phase, followed by a hiatus from studios and touring for several years. They returned with "Not Your Kind of People" (2012), released on an independent label the band founded, and later issued "Strange Little Birds" (2016) and "No Gods No Masters" (2021), continuing to explore dark, electronic-tinged rock with introspective themes, supported by regular live activity, international tours and a steady festival presence.
